Monet's Puzzle
The enigmatic Japanese Puzzle Block, a simple diamond which forms visually
mesmerizing secondary patterns, is ideally suited to interpret the interplay
of color and light
sought by Impressionist painters. Monet's gardens,
landscapes and waterlilies suggest possibilities for fabric choices,
while other Impressionist painters, both European and American, widen our
range of opportunities.
Come with a print of a painting, fabrics in its colors, and create
an impression of an impression.
Chicken Delight (Full and Half Day)

Nancy Halpern
Half of the fun of this workshop is in the pattern for the block, which
I will provide. The other half is in creating a surrounding landscape,
or place setting, for your one (or more) intriguing block(s).
If you hate chickens you may bring ANY other block your heart desires,
completely sewn or simply drawn on paper. The workshop activities will
be to 'materialize" the chicken and then design its ambience.
For ideas, think of the possibilities suggested by such titles as Chicken
Little, Little Red Hen, Chicken Kiev, Chicken Tetrazinni, Strange Flavor
Chicken, Chicken Sukiyaki, Mad Wet Hen, Chicken Under Glass, Chicken and
Stars, Free-range Chicken, Chicken Cordon Bleu, Chicken in Every Pot,
Color, design and construction.
20 students., all levels.
